Star Wars

Empire at War

Forces of Corruption · in the browser

The original game, played from its own data, in this tab. Point it at your copy once: it stays on this device, works offline after that, and nothing is uploaded.

Commander

The name other players see in multiplayer. Kept in this browser; the game's lobby can change it too.

Your game

This needs your own copy of Empire at War with Forces of Corruption (Steam or Gold Pack). Pick one way:

Installed game folder

Chrome · Edge · Brave on a computer

The folder that holds GameData and corruption. It is read where it is each time you play; nothing is copied.

Game archive

Any browser

A copy of the game folder in one file, kept in this browser's own storage.

Mods optional

A mod's own folder, the one with Data in it. It is read from your disk each time you play; nothing is copied or changed, and removing it here leaves the folder as it was. Mods are laid over the game in the order shown, the last on top. A total conversion needs the whole game under it: the installed folder, or an archive of it.

Making a game archive

An archive is your game folder packed into one .tar file, which any browser can import — also on a phone or tablet once you copy the file there. Expect about 4 GB.

  1. Find the game folder

Steam: right-click Star Wars Empire at War: Gold Pack → Manage → Browse local files. It is the folder with GameData and corruption in it, usually
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War
  2. Pack it into a .tar

Go up one level so you see the Star Wars Empire at War folder itself, right-click it and choose Compress to → TAR File. Windows puts the .tar next to it (if it asks for permission there, copy the folder to your Desktop first and compress that).

Needs Windows 11 version 24H2 or later. No TAR File in the menu? Use the Windows 10 steps.

  3. Import it

Drop the .tar on Import an archive. It is copied into this browser's storage once; afterwards you can delete the file. A gzipped .tar.gz works too, but not .zip or .7z.

Building from a checkout of this project? npm run pack makes a smaller archive with only what the skirmishes need; it imports here the same way.
